DiskWarrior specializes in repairing these structures, especially the catalog (which they refer to as the directory). This, along with other special records (see Structures of an HFS+ Volume), is very likely damaged. HFS+ Journaled keeps a secret catalog that records the location of each file and folder stored on the partition. Since the drive itself is being detected perfectly fine, it's perfectly healthy (I'm guessing) and it's either a partition map issue or a filesystem issue that's threatening your files. You might damage the drive worse by accident. a lot more expensive than DiskWarrior 5 or DiskDrill Pro (v3). A professional data recovery service is likely to be extremely expensive.
